Director of Finance
Location – North GTA
The Finance Director is responsible for the overall management, direction, and integrity of the accounting, finance, systems, and financial reporting functions for all domestic and international business locations within the business unit. The successful candidate actively participates with the Executive Staff in the planning, direction, and policy making for the company and communicates and supports the strategic and operational plans of the business unit. Additionally she/he provides direction to the accounting/finance staff and leads departmental initiatives to improve, automate, and simplify current accounting and reporting processes to maximize their efficiency and effectiveness and mentors staff and develops talent to support the growing needs of the company.
Requirements;
Degree in Accounting or Finance and/or MBA required.
Accounting Designation preferred (CA, CPA, CGA, CMA or equivalent)
Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible accounting and leadership experience.
Experience in reviewing, analyzing, and implementing accounting and financial reporting standards.
Ten years accounting experience preferred in a manufacturing environment.
Solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the ability to research and apply accounting pronouncements as appropriate.
Advanced PC/ERP/Hyperion experience.
Thorough knowledge of SOX requirements.
Superior verbal and written communication skills to work effectively in a team environment within and outside of the Accounting Department
Bilingual in French and English is preferred

Additional Qualifications
The FM acts as primary contact with external financial reporting customers such as the independent audit firm, bank, foreign credit insurer/broker, government agencies, etc.
Leads and/or participates in special projects and assignments as required.
Consistently operates at the highest level of integrity and is never willing to compromise with regards to ethical standards.
Maintains and continually updates knowledge of the Company's product(s) and operating procedures to properly and effectively maintain accounting records which reflect the Company's operation and financial results.
Assures that performance feedback/reviews, and follow-up on employee `feedback, are performed on a formal and informal basis. Identifies and develops candidates for promotion. Performs hiring procedures as required and in accordance with Company guidelines.
Maintains the professionalism of the Accounting Department.
Reviews and owns monthly consolidated financial statements, applies accounting theory and Company policy as appropriate, and insures the timely and accurate completion of all deliverables
