Senior Mechanical Designer
Our client is seeking a creative, dynamic individual responsible for designing custom machinery, tooling and automated equipment in various industries from concept to final product.
Location - GTA
Responsibilities;
Analyze customer SOR and develop project standard for Mechanical Designers, develop machine concepts
Perform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc. as related to machine and tool designs as well as guide Mechanical Designers with and sign off on engineering calculations.
Produce working drawings, detail drawings and bills of materials for equipment, sub-assemblies or product, using AutoCAD and Solid Works
Analyze specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness etc. in the development of equipment, processes and products in conformance of customer requirements. (Does this make more sense?)
Design mechanisms, subsystems and complete machines involving mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and electronic components using Solidworks and Draftsight
Proficiency in pneumatic / hydraulic schematics design
Produce bills of materials using CAD, spreadsheets and ERP tools
Select appropriate purchased components
Take lead on various projects and ensure they stay on track.
Ability to support sales and Customer Service Centre with customer change requests, warranty issues, etc.
Work with mechanical design software to develop and implement custom solutions in conjunction with our electrical team for various customers etc.)
Provide design support to manufacturing.
Requirements:
Post-secondary diploma or degree in mechanical design, mechanical engineering or equivalent and a minimum of 8+ years’ experience in a similar position.
Use of Solid Works (mechanical CAD) and Draftsight effectively in the design work.
Strong Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with Product design
Salary - Commensurate with experience
