Our client has a great opportunity for a talented Automation Specialist to join their team!
Location- Calgary
The Automation Specialist is responsible for program and test control systems and customer specifications ensuring all design criteria are met.The successful candidate will also develop engineering documentation to meet design criteria.
Role & Responsibilities

Understand and utilize Process Flow Diagram, piping and Instrumentation Drawing(P&IDs), mechanical and electrical schematics.
Develop an understanding of the following:
Various water process and treatment designs;
Mechanical and electrical installations;
Process instrumentation and general system controls.
Troubleshoot problems using a combination of technical knowledge, analytical reasoning,access to specialists (internal and external) and through practical trials, both onsite and remotely;
Participate in onsite project management -system installation, mechanical/electrical startup, commissioning, and client handover.
Use and create spreadsheets to facilitate work, calculate equipment run length and throughput, interpret data and make necessary process improvements
Train operations staff,customers and internal resources
Coordinate with teams in water/wastewater infrastructure projects including process application engineers, project managers, discipline leads, technicians,etc
Design Control System Architecture;
Convert Control Narratives and Valve Sequence Charts into PLC Code;
Program PLC and prepare program documentation packages;
Test and debug code in house prior to shipment;
Be available for on-site programming changes/debugging;
Develop standard screen blocks for HMI's;
Build Programming
Standards and Controls Specifications for hardware and software.
Qualifications
University degree in control systems engineering, College or Technical / Trade School diploma or certificate / technical related field and/or equivalent work experience in the industry is preferred;
3-5 years field or industrial full-time experience;
Proficiency in IEC 61131-3 languages.
