Associate Director, Business Planning and Insights

Reporting to the Director, Business Development and Partnerships, the Associate Director, Business Planning and Insights will lead and manage the Business Planning and Insights Business Unit – comprised of transportation and land-use planning, pricing and yield management, data analytics, and partnerships with City and community stakeholders. They will be responsible for leading all land-use and transportation planning as well as pricing and business intelligence services by connecting the dots between operations, insights, and pricing to grow margins and profitability. In addition, this role will also be responsible for working together with City partners to advance strategic land-use and wider transportation and sustainability objectives.

• Acknowledged as having successfully collaborated across functional lines while driving forward a land-use planning, transportation planning and revenue management agenda. • Persuasive, motivational, and persistent, with excellent customer service skills

• Proven history of strong, relationship-based strategic selling with partner and client organizations. • Demonstrated effective management of P&Ls, targets, budgets combined with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to plan and prioritize.

• Strong financial and proforma modeling skills.

• Knowledge of the Provincial Policy Statement and Planning Act.

• Strong commitment to the organization’s Core Values and cultural change.

• Advanced knowledge of Business Intelligence (BI) tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).






Qualifications , Education & Experience;


• University degree in a related discipline, including Business Administration, Commerce, Planning or Environmental Studies, Geography, or equivalent field.

• Minimum six (6) years related experience in developing and executing transportation initiatives and business strategies and plans, particularly those that required integration with customer experience strategies, and coordination, collaboration and project management across the organization with multiple stakeholders, with at least five (5) years leading, motivating and managing a team.

• Minimum three (3) years working with business intelligence applications.

• Experience working with or networking at leading industry associations. Registered Professional Planner (RPP) certification or Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) membership is an asset.

• Public sector and transportation planning experience preferred but not required.

• Experience delivering structured coaching to staff and all aspects of employee recruitment, retention and performance management with commitment to professional development and continuous learning. Sound knowledge of procurement processes and contract management.
