Automation/Controls Specialist

Location - Greater Burlington area

Our client is seeking a dynamic, creative Controls Specialist whom will be responsible for programming Automation hardware including, but not limited to PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation and VFDs. The software is developed in accordance to the Functional Requirement Specifications.




Responsibilities:

• Programming PLC’s and HMI’s per Functional Requirement Specifications.

• Work with Engineering to correct and update FRS documentation as required.

• Support and participate in Factory and Site Acceptance Testing.

• Assist Tech Service with Automation support as needed. • Assist with the testing and validation as needed.

• Assist Applications with Automation hardware and software estimates and designs.

• Assist Engineering with Process and Automation designs.

• Create Tech Notes, Lessons Learned and Best Practice documents for sharing knowledge.

• Follow established PLC and HMI programming standards.

• Develop and maintain software revision notes and other software development best practices. • Provide innovative ideas and proposals to operate and monitor equipment.

• Deliver process improvement projects - Maintain a library of software for standard products.

• Tune PID controllers including, but not limited to pressure, flow, level, and PH.

• Ability to understand Electrical and P&ID drawings - Assist QA in the creation of validation and verification documentation.

• Ability to provide programming timelines and maintain them. • Ability to make programming decisions on the fly and provide backup documentation

• Occasional travel (10 to 20%) to customer’s sites to assist in start-ups and documentation execution. • Provide effective support via VPN, TeamViewer and or MS Teams.


The successful candidate will have a degree or college Diploma in Electrical Controls / Automation; proficient with Microsoft Office 365 applications.: 4 to 5 years Allen-Bradley/Rockwell (preferred) programming experience with Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View SE/ME; Rockwell PlantPAx experience; VMWare Workstation Experience; understanding of Ethernet/IP networking and configuration; Siemens Programming experience would be beneficial but not necessary; Unitronics Programming experience would be beneficial but not necessary; ability to troubleshoot Automation issues to the root cause; knowledge of Process instrumentation and control systems; knowledge of Process Automation in the Life Sciences Industry.


Salary - commensurate with experience
